After carbon accounting and emission reductions, the next step in the fight against climate change is to mitigate emissions with voluntary carbon markets. By voluntarily redeeming climate units, you support international climate goals.
Green Carbon is the first Finnish company to offer ISO-compliant climate units to companies willing to offset their emissions. We also mediate high-quality international projects to minimise climate impacts.
We have developed, in collaboration with the scientific community and Finnish forest owners, a model that results in measurable natural carbon sinks that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The method is based on long-term forest research.
The measures taken produce additional growth in the forest, which is converted into climate units. Each cubic metre of wood on top of normal growth sequesters about one tonne of carbon dioxide.
There are a limited number of Finnish carbon credits being created – claim yours today!
The emissions can be offset with internationally certified VER (Voluntary Emission Reductions) carbon credits, which are available through us. As a general rule, we supply carbon sequestration credits (VERs) generated from forest conservation projects in developing countries.
The reliability of projects is monitored by two international organisations: the Gold Standard and the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). We broker units from both organisations, and we take care of the cancellation and allocation of units in the name of our client company.
Green Carbon awards a certificate to a company that has purchased carbon credits as proof of its climate work. The certificate allows your company to communicate its climate actions in a concrete way by showing which emissions are offset with carbon credits. The certificate is provided in PDF format.
We provide the client with a stamp for electronic use and a one-pager to support communication about climate action.
All forest areas in our projects are areas that would not have been fertilised without the cooperation between Green Carbon and landowners.
The forest plots under our projects are audited annually by our forest experts. And that’s not all: this process is also monitored by a third, independent party who ensures that the units we produce actually exist.

On the map below you will find all the carbon sinks we have implemented with Finnish landowners. The accuracy of the location of the sites may differ slightly from the actual location.
The map will be updated as new sites are verified. Last update 01/2023. 209 sites in total.
Our sustainability work with Kouvolan Lakritsi has already taken many steps forward.
It was important for us that these forest areas could be concretely identified. Together with a representative of Green Carbon and the forest owners, we plan to visit at least some of these sites.

JOBmeal accounted its emissions with Green Carbon, and also carried out an update calculation for 2022.
The emissions generated have been offset by both domestic and international units.
The choice of a local operator, reliability, and expertise influenced our choice.
Finnish carbon sink projects somehow seemed the closest to us, although this global warming is unfortunately a global problem.

”Helsingin Mylly, which produces Myllärin products, is Finland’s largest processor of organic grains and gluten-free oats. A fourth-generation Finnish family business is known for its high-quality grain products and responsibility.” -Helsinki Mylly
Helsingin Mylly has offset scope 1–2 emissions from its business with Finnish climate units produced by Green Carbon.
