The organisation’s nature footprint is calculated from the financial accounts on a cost basis. The nature impact is measured and expressed by several indicators, the most widely used of which are mean species abundance (MSA) and potentially disappeared fraction of species (PDF).
Land use and construction projects are important drivers of biodiversity loss. Natural impact and ecological compensation assessments can be carried out for projects with a geographically precise location. Such projects include infrastructure projects such as the construction of a solar power plant.
In a nature footprint assessment, we calculate the loss of natural values, or damage to nature, caused by your project. For projects, we also estimate the amount of ecological compensation required to offset the impact on nature.
